The Federal Government through the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has announced that the proposed Nigerian Solid Minerals Corporation will commence operations by the fourth quarter of 2024.
This came as the Federal Government said 4000 investors got mining licences out of over 10,000 applicants.
The government described the nation’s mining sector as robust, noting that more investors were still being expected.
It stated that the private-sector-driven corporation would mark a significant strategic trajectory for the sector’s resurgence, enabling it to resume its crucial role in capital formation and wealth generation.
The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, disclosed the development while briefing the media at the Ministerial Sectoral Update to mark the first year in office of President Bola Tinubu.
